The history of the Welsh slate industry, in one of the country’s best museums.
One of the best museums in Cymru, without a doubt. The entire history of the North Cymru slate industry is told here, for free, in the beautiful old Dinorwig quarry works building and yard. There’s also a café and gift shop here.
The museum is currently closed, and is in the middle of a major redevelopment. In the meantime, you can still visit the nearby Quarry Hospital, as well as explore the otherwordly landscape of the old quarries.
