Nant Gwrtheyrn

Pentref coll wedi ei adfer er mwyn creu cartref i ganolfan iaith arloesol.

Adferwyd hen bentref Nant Gwrtheyrn gan Carl Clowes ac eraill o’r 1970au ymlaen, er mwyn creu gwaith lleol a canolfan dysgu iaith Cymraeg. Diolch i weledigaeth anhygoel Carl a’r holl wirfoddolwyr a chyfranwyr, mae’r ganolfan dal i fynd degawdau yn ddiweddarach, bellach yn elfen adnabyddus o’r byd Cymreig.

Hyd yn oed os nad ydych wedi dod i dysgu, mae’r pentref dal yn werth y siwrnai serth (mewn car neu ar droed) er mwyn gweld maint y gamp, cerdded y strydoedd a’r llwybrau i lawr at lan y môr, ymweld a’r ganolfan treftadaeth yn y capel, a bwyta ac yfed yn Caffi (gwych) Meinir.

An abandoned village rebuilt as a groundbreaking language learning centre.

Nant Gwrtheyrn village was rebuilt by Carl Clowes and others from the 1970s onwards, to create local jobs and a Cymraeg language learning centre. Thanks to Carl’s incredible vision, and with the help of an army of volunteers and contributors, the centre is still going many decades later, by now a well-known part of the Cymraeg speaking world.

Even if you haven’t come to learn, the village is still worth the steep journey (by car or by foot) to see the size of his achievement, to walk the streets and the footpaths down to the sea, visit the heritage centre in the chapel, and eat and drink at the excellent Caffi Meinir.
