Portmeirion is beautiful and totally bonkers. It’s one of the world’s finest ‘folly villages’, created by the architect Clough William-Ellis to show how it was possible to develop a site of natural beauty without spoiling it.

As well as the Italianate-style village, the estate also has beautiful little beaches and a large area of woodland known as ‘Y Gwyllt’ (‘The Wild’). The village also offers two restaurants and a cafe, and a wide range of wonderful accommodation, including the main hotel, Deudraeth Castle, the village lofts, and self-catering cottages.
